Call out to all Javascript, jQuery, CSS and HTML gurus out there – what would you improve?

Well this is a bit of a long shot but I want to try to get some valuable feedback from the community to improve the gjPositionsPlugin. As far as I can tell all requirements are implemented. But the best part of this all is down to Javascript which I don’t really master (anymore).
I do have a strong feeling that I could’ve done better with the scripting and such and this is where you might come in.
Lets recap what I am on about.
It’s all about this administrational backend: http://improveme.experiment.ical.ly/demo_page/1/edit.
It consists of three columns.
- The page to be edited including the canvas (“Design elements”)
- The design elements lists
- The contents
Design elements can be dragged onto the canvas and ordered there. While contents can be dragged onto those design elements.
So a canvas can have many design elements and each design element can have many contents.
Design elements can be removed from the canvas by just dragging them outside the list. The same applies to contents.
So what can you do?
Well apart from clicking around and telling me when you encounter any problems I am wondering about the following questions:
- How would you improve my Javascript (http://improveme.experiment.ical.ly/gjPositionsPlugin/js/positions.js) ?
- How would you improve my CSS ?
- And how would you improve my HTML structure and its IDs and classes?
- Should selectors for Javascript action and style be mixed or separated?
I am really keen to learn from you experts out there. I’m sure there’s much to learn.
What I would like to achieve is the Javascript, CSS and HTML to be:
- well structured
- readable and easy to understand
- easy to maintain!
- easy to extend
- easy to restyle with CSS only
I am not sure however if a call out like this will actually bring any result.. lets wait and see!
Any contributions is appreciated whether it be a comment on this post, a tweet, a mail with some code|advice or a GitHub pull request. Thanks in advance!
