You probably know the story. John is the one with the user and password for your teams Google Analytics account. If you need access he will give you the password. Now John has left the team but no problem since your browser remembers the password.

Only then it didn’t..

I saw this happen a number of times by now and it was always a pain to get back the access credentials again.

So here’s a protip to avoid this situation right away.

Immediately after setting up your Analytics account you should add more users to access it. Create one access per team member and make sure you have several admin profiles.

This way when John leaves the team the other team members can still access the account with their individual profiles.

Now create one for the new guy who replaces John and you’re all set.

Having several admin profiles also allows you to remove John from the list which makes sense as he is no longer part of the team.
