SolidRun CuBox – my new XBMC toy

A few days ago I finally received my SolidRun Cubox. I guess within the next weeks I will write the odd post about my experience with it. So this is likely to be the start of a new series.

Lets start with my setup and plans.

I want to use the CuBox as a media center to play movies and music over my AVR and TV. Nothing more.

To make this a pleasant experience I got myself the following additional things:

Before going anywhere with this I installed the precompiled XBMC taken from the SolidRun wiki.

I think I got myself a new hobby. :)

Interesting! I will install XMBC soon on a Foxconn – NTA350

How is this all working out for you? – I am very interested in this and wonder how it performs with XBMC in a real world environment (I’ve already watched the YouTube XBMC+cuBox vids) – everyone has jumped on a bit of a raspberry pi bandwagon and since I only want a small board for htpc 1080 video purposes this looks like it more than fits the bill.

    Thank you.

How did you configure the Logitech Harmony RC? I have pre-ordered a CuBox and want to use my Logitech Harmony  One+ remote to control XBMC.
    Thanks,

@3c105f491cc46eea2e40ce5324b2d604:disqus the XBMC image from the SolidRuns forums runs fine only sometimes I get coded errors with sounds. It’s not too stable at the moment and I should probably give it some work but lack the time..

@e0ff6cf5faa6f2e56b7327d902239ba7:disqus basically I installed this http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/logitech/HarmonyOne and configured the remote to act like MythTV as described in the file. Not all buttons work as I want them to be but it is a good start.

@36fe4a7ecfcc624b4819b361290e493a:disqus I have to admit that this pet project fell asleep a bit as I am not really satisfied with XBMC at the moment as well as with the selection of codecs that is preinstalled on the image as not all videos are working as expected. On the other hand the documentation regarding alternatives such as Plex isn’t a lot which means there is a lot of time to invest which I simply don’t have..
