Will I increase traffic using Outbrain’s content recommendation solutions?

At work I am currently looking at the services of Plista, a German company providing interesting new advertising formats. Nothing really new but still interesting. Unfortunately they don’t offer a simple trial without getting in touch.

But their US predecessor Outbrain does so I implemented them on testically.

Outbrain offers a simple service. Basically it’s a box of teaser links to your other articles that you show below one of them. In the paid program you can enrich these links with adverts and get some cash flowing.

Implementation is easy. There are plugins on offer for WordPress, Joomla and the like but I opted for the more raw pure javascript option.

Basically you add two script tags to your site. One fetching the base Outbrain script while the other puts the box on your page where you placed the tags. You only have to add the current permalink to that second script and your done. If you do this server side or client side using the location object is up to you.

The more traffic you get on your site the more content Outbrain will learn and over a certain time the related links will become more accurate.

So from now on you will find four related testically stories below each article that hopefully point you to other stories that interest you.

After a few weeks or months I shall write a review about the performance of this. For now I hope you enjoy it.

you’ve said there isn’t any simple trial possible at plista but maybe you’ve overlooked it. you can easy register and create your widget here: https://www.plista.com/en/publisher_registrations/domain
it’s for free and you don’t need to pay anything.

@tom that is correct. You can actually get a trial but you have to provide payment information nonetheless which always puts me off.
