ez Publish goes Symfony – another PHP colossus joins the family

It went viral on Twitter following official announcements on both the Symfony and the ez Publish website: ez Publish 5 will be build on top of Symfony 2!
Now why is this important?
Just like for phpBB and Drupal before building on top of Symfony 2 seems to make perfect sense for ez Systems.
They decided to no longer spend their development resources on underlying technologies and instead focus on their core business building a CMS which is all about content organisation and usability.
Just imagine what force of innovation they could become when they no longer have to focus on stuf like routing, database handling, logging, requests and responses and all that jazz.
ez Publish is probably the most professional CMS within the PHP world and the only one that is present within the media industry where the vast majority of CMS is build in Java by big companies. Typo3 and Drupal sure have their market share but different markets entirely.
I would love to read yet another announcement soon that ez is going to join in the Symfony CMF. It would make sense for any CMS to jump on that train and the project could surely use some more hands and more real world requirements.
ez Publish 5 goes Symfony 2. I like.
