Developers are kind people

Although I characterized developers as cynical Mr. Know-it-Alls I enjoy the company of developers. I did while I was a developer myself and I still do it nowadays.

I guess I just like to be surrounded by kind people.

Recently I spend some more time with my Scrum team and realized that some things were different to other working environments like my own.

There was food all the time. Someone always brought fruit or veg or sweets. When one developer faced a problem another would instantly almost selflessly come to help. There was a lot of nerd talk but you also found that the team knew incredibly much of each others private lives. There is an overall lovely atmosphere and I don’t mean that in a kitsch kind of way.

Of course you can find groups of people that just click with each other anywhere but I when I think back to other teams I shared time with kindness was the dominating factor.

Developers are a special breed. Most that I got to know are generally soft and harmony loving people. Despite the geeky cliche they are socially apt. They can form communities everywhere and they feel best when with like minders. Most of them are no lone rangers.

Their helpfulness is incredible! Towards fellow developers just as well as to non-techies or basically everyone.

What I want to say. I love spending time with developers and I am proud to stil be one of you despite pausing.
