Sustainability of IT structures means that it will be possible at all times to add new and remove old stuff.

In other words: sustainability is the ability to change.

When you look at the requirements that describe the currently needed system you should try to pin down the decisions that underline your current strategy and that might change when the strategy doesn’t work out the way you want.

Try to come up with alternative decisions to get a range of flexibility you need to allow.

Make being flexible for these parameters a key requirement.
