There’s a lot of talk about strategies in the company recently. Most of which directly affects our products which includes the main website. A new colleague is deeply involved in this process. It is in fact his full job description at the moment.

Many fear they will not be involved when every stone is turned.

The same fear spiked in myself for a short moment as I feel responsible for the website as well. Call it envy or what you like. No one is safe from this kind of territorial thinking.

So I approached him and offered my assistance by looking at his results and providing my genuine feedback.

Luckily the new one was not the evil master that takes away our job descriptions. I actually found a him a really nice bloke who is happy about not being the only one to shoulder the weight of the project.

So what did I learn? Open, personal and direct talk with no regards to hierarchies and the like is still worth it and can easily let problems evaporate.

Actually I knew this before but it’s nice to get it confirmed every now and then and if this ever doesn’t work I am sure to work for the wrong employer.
