Yesterday I sat down with a few colleagues. One of our current projects went a little astray as it wasn’t managed for some time due to holidays and such. Everybody had his or her todo lists which needed to be consolidated to get an overview again.

Of course not forgetting the final most important step of consolidation.

Destroy all other lists!

Seriously. Never allow those old lists to be maintained or at least stress that they have no more functional meaning to the process.

The final consolidated list needs to be the agreed and official list.

The simple reason is that you wont be able to maintain all lists and todos will stay on one list although they are removed from all other. Easily this can confuse all participants and provoke yet another consolidation.
